New Year's Eve

This is our first New Year's Eve party! Yup. Pretty special. It's at our old digs, TBA Brooklyn (395 Wythe Ave. on the corner of South 6th St. in Williamsburg). We're gonna convert TBA back into a real deal nightclub, the way it used to be, with a full-on dancefloor, music as loud as we wanna, and partying 'til the cops come knocking (which they won't, because we've taken care of that too, but it just sounded good). We also decided to buck the trend of overinflated (we might blow up, but we won't go pop...) NYE party prices and make this a nice price for everyone. So it's only $20 to buy tickets in advance, $25 if you prefer to just RSVP , or just $30 at the door. Complimentary midnight champagne toast included. Can't wait to ring it in with you!

Brand new ILV Radio show up with special guest Carol C of Si*Sé . Brand new to you, at least. We recorded this one back in November of 2013, so some of the stuff we are talking about makes no sense. Cut us a little slack while we catch up to present. We're sure you'll figure it all out. In this show, topics discussed include (not surprisingly, perhaps): upcoming events that took place in the past, how ladies are made, Oran "Juice" Jones monologues, the303 at Louie & Chan (which is open, which you should already know if you have been paying attention... see Cousin Cousin post ), Detroit royalty, the Giant Step party in the 90s, playing the spoons, and of course, line dancing to Kraftwerk. Listen above and follow along in words and pictures below. You can always listen to all the latest and past episodes on our Radio page, or on Mixcloud . We had an amazing time at Oberlin College in Ohio, where we delivered a series of workshops and guest lectures over the course of a weekend, culminating in a signature all-vinyl dance party featuring special guest DJ Spinna. The talented photographer and videographer Nabil Rahman came along for the ride to document the adventure. A video is forthcoming. In between shooting our every move, he managed to snap these beauties (the pictures, of course!).

Brand new ILV Radio show up with special guest Steve "Steinski" Stein . It was an honor and a lot of fun. This is a picture of the cover of what is considered to be the very first "LP" (long playing) record, as they came to be known, introduced in June of 1948. To celebrate the 65th anniversary of the format, the Brooklyn Museum , in conjunction with I Love Vinyl, is throwing a massive all-vinyl dance party on Thursday June 20 from 7-10pm in the Glass Pavilion. We call it LP48. Sound Liberation Front will provide their incredible "Tower Of Sound" custom-built high-fidelity sound system. The event is all-ages, and FREE (suggested donation). Get there early if you want to get in. As the flyer says, there will also be a Mini Record Fair, with vendors curated by I Love Vinyl, including Turntable Lab , Brooklyn Bowl 's Collect-I-Bowl , and Natasha Diggs ( Mobile Mondays ) representing Brooklyn Flea . Promotional support generously provided by our friends and vinyl community leaders old and new, Wax Poetics , Dust & Grooves , Vnylst , and Vinylfy .

Another beautiful set of photos, from our last party at the Gallery at LPR, courtesy of our six-sensed photographer Seher Sikandar . It was so dark in the party that she couldn't see anything through the camera. But she pulled it off swimmingly, as you can see. Brings new meaning to shot in the dark...

This Saturday marks four years since the very first I Love Vinyl party at the Gallery at LPR back in 2009, so we are throwing ourselves a Birthday Party, and you are all invited! To make things more festive, we have invited a few talented friends to join us. Natasha Diggs of Mobile Mondays will be joining us on the decks. And Dee Phunk of Rare Form/Donuts Are Forever joins us as special guest Master of Ceremonies. Four years is a long time in club land these days, so we feel very lucky to still be here. That wouldn't be possible without you, so, THANK YOU! We look forward to showing you our appreciation the best way we know how... See you Saturday!

Another beautiful set of photos of beautiful people by our beautiful photographer, Seher . This was her first time shooting at the 70 N. 6th Street location, and it was a challenge, since the air conditioning wasn't working, and the place was like a sauna! (Sorry about that, by the way. The ac is 100% fixed and ready to go for this Saturday) But Seher and the crowd were great and we had a great sweaty time. Looking forward to another great one this Saturday, with a little less sweat (just the right amount).

Episode 7 of I Love Vinyl Radio is now up! This time around it was our distinct pleasure to have Alex From Tokyo in the studio with us. He was joined by Scribe, Amir, The Twilite Tone, OP!, Jon Oliver and Shawn Dub. We shared some great music with each other and had a lot of fun. Humor level: adolescent. Intimate knowledge of geography, demographics, and cultural sensitivity was displayed. We practiced our Japanese as well as our French (some of which we begged your pardon for). And Tone praised Swedish pornography in a way that only he could. We laughed, we cried, and at the end of it all, we realized that we are all Japanese.

I Love Vinyl Radio is back with another legendary guest, dj/producer (and all around super nice person) Justin Strauss! He stopped by to play a few records with us and chat about nepotism, bribery, the unlikelihood of bedroom producers getting surprise visits from Luther Vandross, David Bowie's glam rock defection, how NYC club luminaries Francois K. and Larry Levan changed his life, and releasing over 200 remixes, among other not-at-all impressive details. We mainly listened with our mouths hanging open, and sometimes we made sounds that we thought were questions. All in all, we learned a lot and had a great time.
