More Shiny Happy People, Oberlin Edition

More pictures from our weekend at Oberlin. Here you can catch a glimpse of The Twilite Tone and Ge-ology's Music Production Workshop, OP!'s Vinyl DJ Workshop, and our radio show at WOBC. These were taken by our own Jon Oliver.

Shiny Happy People, Oberlin Edition

We had an amazing time at Oberlin College in Ohio, where we delivered a series of workshops and guest lectures over the course of a weekend, culminating in a signature all-vinyl dance party featuring special guest DJ Spinna. The talented photographer and videographer Nabil Rahman came along for the ride to document the adventure. A video is forthcoming. In between shooting our every move, he managed to snap these beauties (the pictures, of course!).

I Love Vinyl x Forever Brooklyn

Check out our very own The Twilite Tone and I Love Vinyl: On the B-Side as featured in this great video tribute to the borough of Brooklyn by Francesco Paciocco .

Shiny Happy People Deluxe

More amazing pictures from LP48 at the Brooklyn Museum to share. Two sets from our great photographer, Seher Sikandar . And one from longtime I Love Vinyl extended family member (he may have been the very first photographer to shoot our party back in 2009) Clay Williams aka Utraclay!

Scenes from LP48

Brooklyn Museum x I Love Vinyl

Image
This is a picture of the cover of what is considered to be the very first "LP" (long playing) record, as they came to be known, introduced in June of 1948. To celebrate the 65th anniversary of the format, the Brooklyn Museum , in conjunction with I Love Vinyl, is throwing a massive all-vinyl dance party on Thursday June 20 from 7-10pm in the Glass Pavilion. We call it LP48. Sound Liberation Front will provide their incredible "Tower Of Sound" custom-built high-fidelity sound system. The event is all-ages, and FREE (suggested donation). Get there early if you want to get in. As the flyer says, there will also be a Mini Record Fair, with vendors curated by I Love Vinyl, including Turntable Lab , Brooklyn Bowl 's Collect-I-Bowl , and Natasha Diggs ( Mobile Mondays ) representing Brooklyn Flea . Promotional support generously provided by our friends and vinyl community leaders old and new,  Wax Poetics , Dust & Grooves , Vnylst , and Vinylfy .

Shiny Happy People

Another beautiful set of photos, from our last party at the Gallery at LPR, courtesy of our six-sensed photographer Seher Sikandar . It was so dark in the party that she couldn't see anything through the camera. But she pulled it off swimmingly, as you can see. Brings new meaning to shot in the dark...

Four Years of Saturday Love

Image
This Saturday marks four years since the very first I Love Vinyl party at the Gallery at LPR back in 2009, so we are throwing ourselves a Birthday Party, and you are all invited! To make things more festive, we have invited a few talented friends to join us. Natasha Diggs of Mobile Mondays will be joining us on the decks. And Dee Phunk of Rare Form/Donuts Are Forever  joins us as special guest Master of Ceremonies. Four years is a long time in club land these days, so we feel very lucky to still be here. That wouldn't be possible without you, so, THANK YOU! We look forward to showing you our appreciation the best way we know how... See you Saturday!

(Extra) Shiny Happy People

Another beautiful set of photos of beautiful people by our beautiful photographer, Seher . This was her first time shooting at the 70 N. 6th Street location, and it was a challenge, since the air conditioning wasn't working, and the place was like a sauna! (Sorry about that, by the way. The ac is 100% fixed and ready to go for this Saturday) But Seher and the crowd were great and we had a great sweaty time. Looking forward to another great one this Saturday, with a little less sweat (just the right amount).

Harlem Stage Takeover Afterparty

Image
This Saturday, Scribe and Ge-ology plan on having the place jumping at the afterparty for Harlem Stage's Takeover dance event. Tickets and info here .

Shiny Happy People

Another great set of photos from the Gallery at LPR in November. As usual, props to our amazing photographer Seher Sikandar for making all these ugly people look so pretty : )

Shiny Happy (Sexy) People

Awesome photos from the last party at the Gallery at LPR on 9/22/12. Big thanks to our amazing photographer Seher Sikandar !

Life On Mars

GE-OLOGY's monthly solo residency is back, now at Polar Lounge, where many of the SubMercer's orphaned parties have found a new home. Life On Mars on Friday, I Love Vinyl on Saturday. Sleep on Sunday.

Life On Mars (venue change)

Image
GE-OLOGY's signature monthly event, four years running, LIFE ON MARS is back, tonight, but with a CHANGE OF VENUE. It would seem, sadly, that New York City has lost another musically important nightlife destination, The subMercer. In GE-OLOGY's own words, ...my favorite home for playing & sharing music the past 4 years, The subMercer.  Trust me, this wasn't any ordinary venue... The subMercer was REALLY SPECIAL, an endangered species, especially for us folks who truly & deeply care about music and the survival of quality nightlife venues in NYC... subMercer was also a very tight knit family of like-minded, creative, fashionable, respectful, beautiful individuals (inside and out) who care about providing a quality experience for it's patrons and each other... Visual Playlist and mix (5/12/12)

Here's the mix and the Visual Playlist (pictures of almost all the records we played) from the last party at Littlefield. Next Brooklyn party is there on June 16. You can always find more mixes on our MIXES page, and more slideshows on our Flickr .

Remember that video we promised you?

We are giddy with excitement about this fantastic (and fantastically funny) short video that the gifted and talented Captain Blyth has created for us, just in time to celebrate our 3rd anniversary . We think it's just perfect. Hope you think so too : )
