OP! x Dubspot - New Video Feature!

Image
Big ups to our very own OP! on this great video profile of him produced by the dj and production school Dubspot , where he teaches. And a warm thank you to Dubspot for including I Love Vinyl in the mix. Dubspot offers a comprehensive curriculum of dj, music production, and sound engineering, classes at its flagship location on West 14th Street in New York City, as well as offering online classes and opening a new location in Los Angeles. As one of the senior instructors at the New York location, OP! works with a large number of aspiring DJs of all ages and skill levels. Now you know! Check it!

OP! x Afrika Bambaataa

Image
Our very own OP!, alongside Cosmo Baker, opens for the "Master of Records" himself, Afrika Bambaataa at Le Poisson Rouge this Saturday Jan 4, courtesy of Giant Step . All-vinyl set by OP! Bam recently donated his 40,000+ record collection to the Hip Hop Collection at the Cornell University Library so your guess is as good as ours as to what media he will be playing on. But we can't help hoping he's been making good use of his Cornell library card...

Shiny Happy People Deluxe

More amazing pictures from LP48 at the Brooklyn Museum to share. Two sets from our great photographer, Seher Sikandar . And one from longtime I Love Vinyl extended family member (he may have been the very first photographer to shoot our party back in 2009) Clay Williams aka Utraclay!

Shiny Happy People

Another beautiful set of photos, from our last party at the Gallery at LPR, courtesy of our six-sensed photographer Seher Sikandar . It was so dark in the party that she couldn't see anything through the camera. But she pulled it off swimmingly, as you can see. Brings new meaning to shot in the dark...

Four Years of Saturday Love

Image
This Saturday marks four years since the very first I Love Vinyl party at the Gallery at LPR back in 2009, so we are throwing ourselves a Birthday Party, and you are all invited! To make things more festive, we have invited a few talented friends to join us. Natasha Diggs of Mobile Mondays will be joining us on the decks. And Dee Phunk of Rare Form/Donuts Are Forever  joins us as special guest Master of Ceremonies. Four years is a long time in club land these days, so we feel very lucky to still be here. That wouldn't be possible without you, so, THANK YOU! We look forward to showing you our appreciation the best way we know how... See you Saturday!

Gilles Peterson ticket giveaway

Image
Legendary tastemaker, BBC Radio host and record label owner, Gilles Peterson is first and foremost a consummate record collector and dj. His far-reaching tastes have taken him all over the world, and made him a household name in quite a bit of it. On Thursday, October 25, he will be making his (annual, if we're lucky) NYC appearance at our very own, the longtime home of I Love Vinyl, Le Poisson Rouge. We have a lot of respect for the guy, and he is a friend of, and has played host on his radio show to, at least a couple of the Dream Team djs, who are themselves music makers and purveyors. So we can recommend this event without hesitation. And we are pleased to be able to offer you a pair of tickets to the event, courtesy of our friends at Giant Step, who has been putting on great parties in NYC since the early 90s that influenced some of us as DJs growing up here. So it's all in the family! To win a pair of tickets, tweet a link to this post, tag it #gilleslovesvinyl (he do...
