Four Years of Saturday Love

Image
This Saturday marks four years since the very first I Love Vinyl party at the Gallery at LPR back in 2009, so we are throwing ourselves a Birthday Party, and you are all invited! To make things more festive, we have invited a few talented friends to join us. Natasha Diggs of Mobile Mondays will be joining us on the decks. And Dee Phunk of Rare Form/Donuts Are Forever  joins us as special guest Master of Ceremonies. Four years is a long time in club land these days, so we feel very lucky to still be here. That wouldn't be possible without you, so, THANK YOU! We look forward to showing you our appreciation the best way we know how... See you Saturday!

(Extra) Shiny Happy People

Another beautiful set of photos of beautiful people by our beautiful photographer, Seher . This was her first time shooting at the 70 N. 6th Street location, and it was a challenge, since the air conditioning wasn't working, and the place was like a sauna! (Sorry about that, by the way. The ac is 100% fixed and ready to go for this Saturday) But Seher and the crowd were great and we had a great sweaty time. Looking forward to another great one this Saturday, with a little less sweat (just the right amount).

I Love Vinyl Radio, Episode 7 with Alex From Tokyo

Episode 7 of I Love Vinyl Radio is now up! This time around it was our distinct pleasure to have Alex From Tokyo in the studio with us. He was joined by Scribe, Amir, The Twilite Tone, OP!, Jon Oliver and Shawn Dub. We shared some great music with each other and had a lot of fun. Humor level: adolescent. Intimate knowledge of geography, demographics, and cultural sensitivity was displayed. We practiced our Japanese as well as our French (some of which we begged your pardon for). And Tone praised Swedish pornography in a way that only he could. We laughed, we cried, and at the end of it all, we realized that we are all Japanese.

I Love Vinyl Radio, Episode 6 with Justin Strauss

I Love Vinyl Radio is back with another legendary guest, dj/producer (and all around super nice person) Justin Strauss! He stopped by to play a few records with us and chat about nepotism, bribery, the unlikelihood of bedroom producers getting surprise visits from Luther Vandross, David Bowie's glam rock defection, how NYC club luminaries Francois K. and Larry Levan changed his life, and releasing over 200 remixes, among other not-at-all impressive details. We mainly listened with our mouths hanging open, and sometimes we made sounds that we thought were questions. All in all, we learned a lot and had a great time.

I Love Vinyl Radio, Episode 5 with Sal P (Liquid Liquid)

I Love Vinyl Radio is back and proud to present Episode 5, featuring special guest Salvatore Principato aka Sal P of Liquid Liquid (the guy smiling behind the big red dot) who came through to kick it and play a very far-reaching (to put it mildly) selection of great soul-stirring tunes. This episode spans the gamut, bringing to life something Sal says during the show about making music for the love of it, not to fit into a particular category. We are with you, Sal! Big thanks for sharing the music (paired with an assortment of delicious craft brews, expertly selected by Shawn Dub) with us. Actually, given the relationship between alcohol and pretty much everything else, the only thing about the episode we are 100% sure about is that the beer was good... Gurgle gurgle. Now press play on Sal's face, and let's go! Follow Sal on his Tumblr , Soundcloud , and his vegan cooking podcast, Singing With My Mouth Full
