Fela contest is officially closed, and we have our winners! we were bribed (attempted), threatened (idly), cajoled, brown-nosed, and every other below the belt tactic you can think of, by the desperate throngs of Fela! musical ticket seekers. but we were immune! sort of...
First Prize (a pair of tickets to Fela! on Broadway PLUS a copy of the limited edition Fela Kuti 10" vinyl from Knitting Factory Records) is awarded to the tweeter of this this motherloving tweet:
sappy, yes. sweet, guilty. a cheap shot, you bet. we are suckers for moms. but the main reason we picked this one is that it was the only entry that mentioned wanting the tickets for someone else. we thought Fela would have liked that generosity of spirit. and we let mr. matthews know that we expect to see a picture of him and his mom at the show! if he doesn't, we are going to tell his mother. Fela doesn't like cheaters.

we awarded these 2nd and 3rd Prize because they were the only two to mention the vinyl part of the contest, and because Ronald Keizer's picture scared us, and we didn't want to be responsible for unleashing a zombie version on the world (yes, we got the reference).
