Bubblings: The Twilite Tone
Our man Master Khan (you have to do some creative pronouncing to make that one rhyme) aka The Twilite Tone is back in the spotlight with his Great Weekend project (see previous post). This time, UK creme de la creme tastemaker Gilles Peterson has picked Great Weekend's "Let's Do It Again (Over and Over)" as the lead track for Volume Six of his Brownswood Bubblers compilation series. Check it out here. For more insight into Great Weekend, check out the artist profile on Gille's site.
I Love Vinyl would also like to take this time to congratulate all the other talented artists featured on Bubblers Six, and especially our extended family, Taylor McFerrin, Quadron, MdCL and Kissey Asplund.
On the flip
After a month's hiatus, and four smash parties in Man-hattan, we're back on the B-side of things tomorrow night at Brook-lady Bowl. In the in-between time, Amir traveled the world (twice) with his partner Kon, including this appearance on Gilles Peterson's show, while The Twilite Tone simply jet-setted around the United Snakes of America as the official dj for the Obama 2012 reelection campaign launch. "What do you do?" "Me? I'm the President's dj" "Oh. Nice." But you don't have to be a UK legend or US President to have the privilege of their musical company. For five dollars (and a dream) they, and the rest of the Dream Team djs, will play music just for your dancing pleasure tomorrow night. So put on your good socks, and let's do this hop!
