Big ups to I Love Vinyl resident OP! and the whole OkayAfrica team for the highly successful event last Sunday (people were risking arrest to jump the fence after the cops shut down the entrance with 15,000+ people already inside!) featuring incredible performances by The Roots (feat. Talib Kweli) and relative newcomer Blitz the Ambassador. Just back from South Africa, armed with some Africa-hot new joints, OP! did his thing, indeed; keeping folks on their feet, dancing, in the pouring rain.
At the end of the show, when OP! got back on the decks, we were all treated to a surprise (OP! included) when Nice & Smooth jumped on stage. OP! pulled out Hip-Hop Junkies and DWYCK instrumentals, and the rest is history (caught on video for posterity, below).
